Ondokuz Mayıs University, Faculty of Agriculture, Agricultural Structures and Irrigation Department was established in 1984 as a Cultural Technique Department. In 1992, the first students were taken and the first graduates were given as Agricultural Engineers in 1996. The aim of the Agricultural Structural and Irrigation Department is to optimize the use, conservation and development of the soil and water resources, to plan, design and construct the structures and facilities necessary for the formation of suitable environmental conditions at various stages of agricultural production, and to improve the structural and physical aspects of agricultural enterprises to provide basic information on issues related to taking long-lived measures. The department has a Measurement Laboratory, Agricultural Construction Laboratory, Hydraulic and Irrigation-Drainage Laboratory, Water Analysis Laboratory, Computer Aided Application Laboratory, Remote Sensing and GIS Laboratory, and seminar hall. The Agricultural Structural and Irrigation Department also has a Master's and Ph.D. program in the scope of the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences as well as undergraduate programs. There is 9 academic staff in the department, 4 Professors, 2 Associate Professors, 1 Assistant Professor and 2 Research Assistants. In addition to having working facilities in all fields where Agricultural Engineers can work as their work areas, Agricultural Hydrology, Agricultural Hydraulics, Village Drinking Water, Land Application, Rural Settlement Techniques, Irrigation, Agricultural Irrigation Systems, Agricultural Irrigation Systems, Irrigation Methods, Agricultural Drainage, Land Improvement, Agricultural Hydrology, Meteorology, associations and cooperatives, Agricultural Research Institutes, Agricultural Development and Support Agency, Special Provincial Administrations, Ziraat Banks. Also possibilities for private business establishment (design of pressure irrigation systems, special consultancy services such as irrigation programming). Graduates have the authority to open special engineering departments that work in agricultural structures and irrigation areas.
